Q. I selected low quality. Why do my images still take so long to upload?
A.
By default, your images are resized when you upload them since an image can be extremely large when saved from a digital camera for example. If left full size, it can take a few minutes for your friends to see your pictures. If you unchecked "resize images" then your images are probably very large, so you may want to delete, then re-upload and let the program resize them.

Q. How can I upload full size images?
A.
You can upload full size images by unchecking the resize button on the image upload page. Keep in mind that full size images take longer to upload and use more storage space and bandwidth.

Q. How can I make my images upload faster?
A.
Leave the default setting we have set when you upload images. You will see this just below the area where you browse to upload images. It says: Resize Images (Recommended: They will load quicker and use less bandwidth) Be sure you leave this checked since some images, especially those saved from a digital camera, can be extremely large. A large image can take several minutes to show up when sending to friends, so keep that in mind :) If your images are very large, and you prefer to resize them yourself, make them smaller using an image editing program before uploading. If you don't have an image editing program we recommend "Irfanview" (Free). You can get it by Clicking here.

Q. How many folders can I have?
A.
You can have an unlimited number of folders with unlimited images within a folder, subject to the limitations of your account, of course. To keep your images as organized as possible try not to put to many images into one folder.

Q. How can I unsubscribe?
A.
You can easily unsubscribe by going to Account/Preferences and clicking the unsubscribe button and you will be taken to paypal to cancel your subscription with us. If you are a free member, it will remove you from the database. If you unsubscribe, ALL the images you have uploaded will be deleted from our server so be sure you have them backed up or saved to your harddrive!

Q. Should I rename my images?
A.
If your filenames on your images are too long we do recommend you rename them. Also, you cannot use special characters in the names you give your images, such as ! @ and others.

Q. What type of files can I host?
A.
You can host JPG, GIF and PNG files. If you need support for other file types please contact us and we may be able to add support for them.

Q. What happens if I want to downgrade from Deluxe to Free account?
A.
You can't downgrade. You can cancel at any time and then re-sign up for a free package. But, please remember you will not be able to access your images on your cancelled account so please save them to your own hard drive before you cancel! When you downgrade or unsubscribe, your images will be deleted from our server.

Q. I paid for a Deluxe account but cannot find my account and/or log in!
A.
If you have a problem logging in, be sure you use your email address as your user name and keep in mind that your password is case sensitive.

If you set up a Deluxe account, or upgraded your Picsures account from a Free to a Deluxe, make sure that your Picsures account used the same email address as the one you used with PayPal, as the system is automated and activates accounts by email address. Keep in mind it may take up to 24 hours for your account to upgrade from Free to Deluxe as indicated during the payment process.

Q. How do I change my email address or log in information, password, etc.?
A.
Log in to your account, click the link from the menu on the left that says "Account/Preferences" and make your changes here.

Q. Why do I see a Red X in my folders instead of my image?
A.
It means you uploaded an image that used spaces or invalid characters in the name. Make sure your uploaded image names do not have spaces or unusual characters such as $@&\" etc. You will still see the fully sized image but the thumbnails created for you will be a red X.

Q. What is the difference between Diskspace and Bandwidth?
A.
Diskspace is the amount of storage space you have, or how many pictures you can upload. Bandwidth is the amount of data transfer you have. Each time someone views your image, you use bandwidth.

Q. How do I create a Gallery and share it?
A.
One of our forum members has made an excellent picture tutorial to guide you step by step. Click here to view this tutorial

Q. Do you guarantee my images are safe?
A.
No we do not. While we make every attempt to keep your images safe, we do not guarantee it. This is an image hosting site not an image backup or storage site. The purpose of Cloudeight Picsures is to make it easy to share your pictures with friends and family, or to store Cloudeight Smileycons images you may have created, for ebay, etc.

Q. Why do my pictures look smaller when I upload them?
A.
Picsures is set to automatically resize the photos you upload to make them a managable size. We do this for a number of reasons: 1. You can get more from your Picsures account - store more photos and conserve more bandwidth if your pictures are not so large. Newer digital cameras are very high resolution, most are bigger than people can see on an average size monitor. Additionally, smaller images are easier and faster to view for those you share them with. No one wants to wait 5 minutes for a picture to load before they can see it. Not everyone has a fast connection and even those who do would perfer to view pictures that fit comfortably on their monitor. Picsures does give you the option to upload full size images. However, these are normally 1 MB or larger in size and take a long time to upload and to view. So we strongly recommend you leave "Resize Images" checked when uploading to your Picsures account.

Q. My jpg image will not upload!
A.
Possible causes are: 1) Your own settings (firewall, security), or 2) a possible non-admin account, or 3) your ISP is simply timing them out or restricting you. Keep in mind that upload speeds are much slower then download speeds so be sure to let Picsures resize as opposed to resizing in PSP or other programs so your images are not too large. Trying to upload a 200 or 300+ in size is way too big for sharing in email or forums as it can take up to a minute or so for those viewing to see! Also, progressive jpgs will not work; images have to be saved as normal jpgs. Some people try to save images in programs that save as progressive scan .jpg and do not realize there is a difference. Progressive JPG image are not supported by many applications; you can check by doing a conversion to jpg using an image viewer such as Irfanview.
